3-person Team event with Tehidy Park Golf Club
The Ladies Open was played on Friday 11th October with 15 teams of 3 taking part. Judy Ryder who played with Chris Williams & Ro Lawson from Tehidy Park scored 76 points to take victory from more Tehidy Park players in the form of Jean Meigh, Ruth Rogers & Maggie Mortimer who managed 75 points.
Alison Gessey, Mandy Dennison & Wendy Stewart (Bowood Wiltshire) also scored 75 as did Michelle McLaughlin (Perranporth), Kelly Leese & Laura Jarman (both Bowood Wiltshire) finished third and fourth respectively.
The home team of Lady Captain, Rachel Perkin, Jo Body & Kim Pellow finished fifth with 74 just pushing Pauline Clifton, Kathy Wells & Carmel Connors (Falmouth) into sixth with the same score.
Sunday was the Jim Barnes Cups, a 36-hole better ball event, this being the centenary year of Jim Barnes winning The Open at Prestwick in 1925. Steve Sparrow & Martin McBeath set the early pace in the morning with 43 points. They were closely followed by three groups on 42 points, being Jon & Jordan Musitano, Antony Richards & Phil Hall and Paul & Fred Horsell.
Two-time defending champions Bailey Watling & Dave Elliott were sat just a point further back on 41 with Matt Richards & Rory Hudson and Andre Otto & Charl van Niekerk scoring 39 points each. It was all to play for in the afternoon.
Kevin Veal & Nigel Jane brought themselves into the reckoning with 39 points in the afternoon as did Phil Weaver & Nick Farhall and Sam Staniland & Rob Lewis with their 38 points. The Musitano’s fell away, Richards & Hall mustered 35 points and the Horsell’s 36, but it was Sparrow & McBeath who followed their morning 43 with another good score of 39 to take the overall title of Jim Barnes Cup winners 2025.
